Chemical Name: Tetramethyl Thiuram Disulfide
CAS No.: 137-26-8
TMTD can be used as a primary vulcanization accelerator, a secondary accelerator, or as a sulfur donor in most sulfur-cured elastomers. It is scorchy and provides fast cure rates. It produces an excellent vulcanization plateau with good heat aging and compression set resistance in sulfur-free and EV cure systems. It also offers good color retention in non-black vulcanization. TMTD is a valuable secondary accelerator for EPDM and may be used as a retarder in the vulcanization of polychloroprene rubber with ETU. Additionally, it can be used as a bactericide and pesticide.
