MBTS is primarily used in tires, rubber tubes, rubber shoes, rubber tapes and other general industrial products. It provides a moderately fast cure in both natural rubber (NR) and synthetic rubber (SR). MBTS offers a broad vulcanization range, significant delayed action, low risk of early scorching, safe handling, easy dispersion and is non-polluting. The vulcanized rubber produced with MBTS exhibits excellent aging resistance. It is typically used in combination with thiurams, dithiocarbamates, aldehyde-amines, and guanidines, and can act as a plasticizer or a retardant in chloroprene rubber (CR).
